Mississauga-July 18, 2018
The Muslim Council of Peel expresses deep concern over the increasing violent nature of hate motivated attacks on innocent Canadian-Muslims. Muhammed Abu Marzouk and his friend, Fuat Yücel, were the latest victims of a brutal attack motivated by hate Sunday night at the Mississauga Valley Community Centre and Park.
Abu Marzouk was viciously punched and assaulted while his wife and young daughters watched. He is recovering in hospital after emergency surgery due to swelling on the brain. Yücel also sustained minor injuries after trying to intervene and has been released from the hospital.
MCP Board Member, Imam Ibrahim Hindy, has been closely monitoring the incident and has been directly involved in supporting Abu Marzouk and his family. “We commend Peel Regional Police in recognizing the hateful nature of this assault and investigating it as such. We expect the charges will result in the justice that the victims deserve,” states Imam Hindy.
MCP member Dawanet has launched an online campaign to support Abu Marzouk and his family through this traumatic time. Please give generously.
